One of the major players in the outdoor industry is doing it's best to build the first bulletin on the loop 101 in the northern part of the valley. The board would be located at 32nd Street and the 101 on the north side of the highway, just east of Cave Creek Road.
The Phoenix City Council has not yet approved the board that was approved by the Board of Adjustment in July. The City argues that the board does not meet City ordinances for the type of street it is being built upon as well as for sign variances required to have the board facing the freeway. A decision is expected to be made at the end of August.
Approval of this particular bulletin is important for a couple of reasons. First of all, approval of the variances may set a precedent that opens the door for further development of bulletins in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, especially in the City of Phoenix. Secondly, it will provide a place for companies valley-wide to market to the affluent communities of North Phoenix and North Scottsdale. Scottsdale does not currently allow billboards.
Stay tuned, we'll keep you posted on this developing story and we will also have rates to advertise on the board as soon as it is built.
